Nanny Share – Looking for Someone with a Heart for Children

We are looking for more than someone to simply watch two babies. We are looking for someone who will genuinely engage with them, nurture them, and become an important part of their days.

Two members of our family are looking for a warm, dependable, and engaging nanny to care for their babies during the workday. The children will be cared for together in a dedicated space at Davies Institute while their moms are working nearby.

This nanny share is being created for a particularly meaningful reason. One of these little ones is immunocompromised, making a traditional daycare environment hazardous and a health risk for the family. We are trying to come together as a work family to find a safe, loving childcare solution that allows this mom to continue working while protecting her child's health.

Because this family is also navigating significant medical expenses, we are hoping to find someone who connects with the heart behind what we are trying to do. We understand that childcare is valuable work and want to compensate the right person fairly. At the same time, we want to be transparent that this is a family trying to make a difficult season financially manageable.

Who We're Looking For

We would love to find someone who:
  • Truly enjoys babies and young children and isn't simply looking for a place to pass the time.
  • Will get on the floor, play, talk, sing, read books, and interact with the babies throughout the day.
  • Understands that everyday activities can support language, motor, social, and cognitive development.
  • Is willing to plan simple, age-appropriate activities and help the babies explore and learn.
  • Is attentive to developmental milestones and individual needs.
  • Will follow each family's feeding, sleeping, hygiene, and care preferences.
  • Is patient, affectionate, dependable, responsible, and communicative.
  • Understands that screen time is not how we want the children's days spent. We want interaction, play, books, music, movement, outdoor time when appropriate, and lots of human connection.
  • Takes illness precautions seriously because of the medical vulnerability of one of the children.
  • Wants to build a trusting relationship with both children and their families.

What the Day Might Look Like

There will be bottles, diapers and naps, of course—but we want the time between those things to matter too.
You might spend the morning doing tummy time and singing songs, read books together, narrate what you're doing to encourage early language development, introduce sensory play, practice emerging motor skills, take a stroller walk, or simply sit on the floor and make a baby laugh.
You don't need to turn every moment into a lesson. You do need to be present.
We're looking for someone who understands that babies learn through relationships, interaction and play—not through sitting in front of a television.

About the Arrangement

This is a private nanny share between two families whose mothers work at Davies Institute. The families will jointly select their nanny, and each family will pay the nanny separately for their portion of care.
The babies will be cared for together in a designated space at Davies Institute while their mothers work nearby.
Schedule: M-F, 7:30am-4:30pm
Location: Katy
Start Date: ASAP
Compensation: $400 - $500 a week (depending on experience)
Children: 5m and 20m
Position: Full-time (we follow Katy ISD holiday schedule)

A Little About Why This Position Matters to Us

We believe families shouldn't have to choose between protecting their child's health and being able to work.
One of our staff families has been navigating circumstances no parent anticipates, including the financial realities that can accompany significant medical care. This nanny share is one small way we are trying to surround that family with support while also creating a great childcare arrangement for another staff family.
We aren't looking for someone to work for free, and we aren't asking someone to undervalue what they do. We are looking for the person who sees the value in the work itself and wants to become part of something meaningful.
